# Answer Engine Optimization for PropTech: Get Cited in 90 Days

The Shortlist Sprint is $10–12k over 90 days. The deliverable is written against the Source Map for your category as of a named Index edition: entry into 5 of the top-10 cited sources, owned pages built to be extracted from, your entity cleaned up everywhere it is read, and a before/after citation report. Answer engine optimization (AEO) is what the industry calls this work. We scope it as a Sprint so it has an end date and a list.

## What the Source Map is

Every Index run stores every cited URL. Those URLs are grouped by domain and by page type: vendor site, review platform, listicle, trade publication, directory, forum, association. The top 20 per category, by citation count, is the Source Map, published on each category’s sources page, for example the [maintenance sources page](/ai-shortlist-index/maintenance-vendor-network-software/sources/). In the one completed maintenance run of the September 2026 edition, reddit.com was the most cited domain, followed by appfolio.com and buildium.com.

The Sprint targets that list, and only that list.

## The deliverable

Entry into 5 of the top-10 cited sources. Some of the ten are review platforms (G2, Capterra) where you control the listing and the job is completeness and category placement. Some are listicles and trade publications where we pitch an editor with your facts. Some are PMS marketplaces where the integration listing is the entry. Some are forums, where the only honest route is a disclosed answer in a thread a property manager actually asked in. We attempt all ten in priority order. Third-party placement is attempted, not guaranteed, and the final report shows which ones landed and which did not.

Extraction-ready owned pages. Three page types on your domain: you versus each named competitor, alternatives to each incumbent a buyer is leaving, and your category for property managers, with for-segment versions where the prompts demand them (single-family rental, small multifamily, institutional). Each page carries the specifics an answer pulls: PMS integrations by name, the portfolio sizes you fit, the pricing model, deployment, and where you do not fit. Structured data goes on every one. The [engine-side mechanics](/blog/how-ai-engines-read-a-vendor-page/) are described on the blog.

Entity cleanup. Your name, category, one-line description, integrations list, and founding facts made identical across G2, Capterra, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, the PM directories, and the PMS marketplaces you are listed in. Aliases get reconciled (a product name that differs from the company name is a common cause of a missed match). Where a listing has a paid tier that unlocks the fields we need, you approve the pass-through before we spend it.

Before/after citation report. Your row at the baseline edition and your row at the first edition after day 90: mention rate per engine, shortlist rank, position score, engine spread, and source dependency, plus the list of sources entered. The same numbers appear on your public row.

## Not included

Ads, social, unlimited search work of any kind, Google Business Profile work, press retainers, and anything consumer-facing. If a source on your map requires a paid listing, that cost passes through at cost with your approval, and it is disclosed in the report.

## Price and terms

$10–12k, set by the Audit, paid in three monthly installments or 50/50. The SOW names the Index edition the baseline is measured against, lists the ten target sources, lists the owned pages, and carries the placements-attempted clause in plain words. A [Shortlist Audit](/ai-visibility-audit/) comes first; the Sprint’s scope is the Audit’s 90-day fix. After the Sprint, the [Retainer](/ai-visibility-monitoring/) defends whatever position the next edition shows, and [category exclusivity](/ai-visibility-category-exclusivity/) is available at the top of that band.

## How it starts

Request an Audit below. If you already have one, [book a call](/contact/) and we will send the SOW. The [practice hub](/ai-visibility-for-property-management-software/) has the three products side by side and the firewall that governs all of them.

## Questions

### What decides whether the Sprint is $10k or $12k?

How many of the top-10 sources are third-party placements we have to pitch versus listings you control, how many owned pages your category needs, and how much entity cleanup is waiting. The Audit sets the number before you sign.

### What counts as entry into a source?

Your company appears on the specific page or thread that carries citations in your category, in a way a reader would see, whether that is a listing, a mention in a listicle, a directory entry, or a disclosed reply in a forum thread. The report links every one.

### Do you write the owned pages?

Yes. We draft the vs, alternatives, and for-property-managers pages with your product facts, you approve them, and they publish on your domain. If your team prefers to write, we supply the structure and the facts each page needs and edit what comes back.

### What if the Index moves the wrong way during the Sprint?

It gets reported. The before/after citation report shows your row at the baseline edition and at the edition after the Sprint, whichever direction it went. The Index never adjusts for who is paying.
