It sells readers and mobile credentials to commercial buildings first, and reaches multifamily through partners rather than through a residential product of its own. That makes it the second of the two commercial-first platforms in our [multifamily access control guide](/property-management-software/multifamily-access-control/), alongside Brivo, and the one with the thinner multifamily record in our database. The facts panel below is rendered from our vendor database with a source URL and verification date on each entry. ## Who it fits and who it does not Avigilon Alta lists commercial facilities and institutional multifamily. The buyer is an operator whose security team already runs Avigilon or Motorola equipment on the office side of a portfolio, or a mixed-use owner who wants the residential lobby and the retail doors on the same readers and the same audit trail. The [commercial facilities page](/property-management-software/multifamily-access-control/for-commercial-facilities/) is written for that buyer. It does not list small multifamily, single-family rental, or student housing. It does not sell unit locks, hubs, or thermostats, so an operator who wants the whole unit on one contract is looking at SmartRent or PointCentral instead. And because the multifamily connection runs through a partner, an operator with no commercial doors at all has little reason to start here. ## Pricing Pricing is not published. Ask for the per-reader hardware figure, the per-door or per-credential software figure, and the minimum commitment. Ask what the partner charges on top for the multifamily layer, since that is a second invoice. Ask whether mobile credentials are priced per user or per door, and whether physical cards and fobs cost extra. ## Integrations The database records no native PMS integrations. The one multifamily integration it carries is with iApartments, a smart-home platform, per Avigilon’s own integrations page. Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, AppFolio, Rent Manager, ResMan, Buildium, and MRI are not on any list Avigilon publishes. So the integration questions go to the partner. Ask which partner handles your PMS, whether the connection is in production at a community your size, what it syncs, in which direction, and whether it runs in real time or on a schedule. Ask what happens to credential provisioning when a resident’s lease ends and who is responsible when it fails. With a partner in the middle there are three parties, Avigilon, the multifamily partner, and the integrator who mounts the readers. Get in writing which of them answers the phone when a resident is locked out at night. Ask how a resident without a smartphone gets in. A platform built on mobile credentials for office workers assumes everyone carries a phone. Washington’s ESSB 5937 requires a non-app key on request from January 2027, and New York has already seen litigation after a landlord blocked a key cylinder. Ask what a fob costs and whether a lost one can be killed from the office. Ask what still works during an outage. Ask for a reference customer at your PMS with residential doors, since the research notes record Avigilon Alta as commercial-first with some multifamily, and a reference from an office park tells you nothing about move-out day. ## Alternatives The comparison buyers run is [Brivo against Avigilon Alta](/property-management-software/multifamily-access-control/brivo-vs-avigilon-alta/), the two commercial-first platforms with a multifamily footprint.
