American Locker is a locker manufacturer, and package management for apartments is one of many things it builds lockers for. Its about page traces its origins in part to the U.S. Voting Machine Company, founded in 1895, and credits it with the world’s first coin-operated locker in 1953, and the site footer carries an ASSA ABLOY copyright. It sells four lines: Standard, Premium, Advanced and Custom. The Advanced Line is the one that matters here, with electronic and keyless locks, barcode scanners, charging, refrigerated storage and parcel delivery. A post on its site describes the multifamily setup: the carrier scans a barcode and drops the package in a locker, the resident gets a text, email or call with a one-time PIN, and picks it up at any hour. In the package management guide it is the general locker maker in a field of package specialists, and the facts panel below is rendered from our vendor database with a source and verification date on each entry.

Who it fits

The database tags institutional multifamily. The rest of the site points elsewhere. The customer stories linked from the homepage are UPS, Fitness International, Rumble Boxing, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and Sky Zone trampoline parks, and the blog covers asset tracking and electronic lockers for workplaces as much as packages. The only multifamily material we found is one blog post. So the buyer who fits is specific: an owner or developer who wants custom-built lockers, cares about the cabinet as much as the software, and has someone, an architect or a facilities lead, to specify it. The site has an architect’s studio section for exactly that buyer.

It is a weaker fit for a property manager who wants a turnkey package program with a resident app, PMS sync and a support desk that handles residents’ questions. The site does not describe one.

Pricing

Pricing for parcel lockers is not published. The site has a request-a-quote form, and the multifamily post ends with a “what does your locker cost?” prompt that leads to the same place. Some products, such as the laptop charging lockers, show list prices, but parcel systems are quoted.

Ask for the price of a parcel locker bank sized to your unit count, with installation. Ask what the software costs, whether it is a one-time license or a subscription, and who hosts it. Ask what the warranty covers; the site has a warranty page, so ask for it in writing. Ask about refrigerated compartments and what they add. Ask whether a resident is ever charged to pick up a package.

Integrations

The record names no PMS, and the site names none. That is the question to settle before anything else. Ask how residents are added and removed when they move in and out: a sync with your PMS, a file upload, or manual entry by staff. Ask which carriers have used the system and whether drivers need training or an account. Ask how notifications are sent and whether the resident needs an app.

Limitations and questions to ask

Ask how many multifamily installations American Locker has, and for a reference at a property like yours. The site’s multifamily material is thin, so the reference matters more than usual.

Ask who services the lockers in your area. A manufacturer may sell through dealers, so ask whether the installer and the repair technician are American Locker staff or a third party, and how fast they respond.

Ask about the ASSA ABLOY relationship. ASSA ABLOY also owns Luxer One, according to our database. Ask whether the two overlap in multifamily and which one ASSA ABLOY points apartment owners to.

Ask what happens to oversized packages and to overflow at the holidays.

Alternatives

The package management vendor list compares each vendor with the same facts. Luxer One is the package-specific sister brand under ASSA ABLOY, with three named PMS integrations. Parcel Pending by Quadient sells indoor, outdoor, refrigerated and oversize lockers. Smiota sells smart lockers, outdoor units, package rooms and mailroom software, and names five PMS integrations. Every other vendor is on the list of Luxer One alternatives.
