RentPlus is the rent reporting program from Rent Dynamics, and Rent Dynamics has been part of Entrata since Entrata bought it in July 2023. It reports a resident’s on-time rent payments to the credit bureaus and bundles ID and fraud protection, a library of financial education content and a budgeting tool called MoneyPlus. Entrata now sells it two ways, on its own or as the rent reporting piece inside Entrata’s Homebody suite. In the resident benefits platforms guide it sits with the credit-first vendors, the ones whose package starts with reporting rather than filters or insurance. The facts panel below comes from our vendor database, with a source and a verification date on each entry.

Who it fits

The database tags institutional multifamily, and the site backs that up. It talks to multifamily operators, claims more than 4 million units on the program, and says implementation can take as little as two weeks. The obvious buyer is an operator already on Entrata who wants a credit-building line in the resident package without signing another vendor contract. Entrata’s acquisition announcement also tied the product to Fannie Mae’s positive rent payment reporting program, which matters to an owner with agency debt who has been asked about it.

It fits less well for a single-family manager on AppFolio, Buildium or Rentvine. Nothing on the current site names those systems, and the product’s center of gravity is now Entrata. It also fits less well for a manager who wants full-file reporting. RentPlus reports on-time payments only and says it never reports a late one.

Pricing

Pricing is not published. The FAQ says the resident pays, with a RentPlus charge appearing as a line item on the resident ledger on the first of the month after enrollment, and that back-reporting of up to 24 months of past payments is free, as long as the PMS holds the history and the resident has stayed in the same unit. Ask for the monthly resident price and whether you can set it, absorb it, or mark it up. Ask whether the property earns a share and how that shows up on statements. Ask whether the price changes when RentPlus is bought inside Homebody rather than on its own. If you operate in a state with fee disclosure rules, have counsel read how the charge is described on the lease.

Integrations

The record lists one PMS, Entrata. The Rent Dynamics site names no other system, and its FAQ only says the property management system holds the payment history. If you run Yardi, RealPage or ResMan, ask directly whether a current integration exists, whether it is two-way, and whether new non-Entrata customers are still being signed. Ask how enrollment reaches the ledger, how a move-out stops the charge, and who files disputes with the bureaus when a resident says a payment is missing.

Limitations and questions to ask

Positive-only reporting helps residents and does nothing to discourage late payment, so decide which outcome you want before you buy. Ask what share of residents typically enroll when the program is optional and what changes when it is part of a required package. Residents can sign up at any time on RentPlus.com or through the office and cancel at any time, so ask what happens to the ledger charge on cancellation. Ask what the $1 million identity recovery coverage actually pays for and who the resident calls. Ask what reporting you get by property, and whether it lives in Entrata or in a separate Rent Dynamics login.

Alternatives

The resident benefits platforms vendor list puts every vendor in the category in one table. For reporting that works across more systems, Boom publishes per-renter pricing and lets you choose full-file or on-time reporting, and Esusu names seven PMS integrations, from RealPage and Yardi to Rent Manager. CredHub reports late payments as well as on-time ones. The Piñata alternatives page lines up the rest of the reporting and rewards vendors with the same sourced facts.
