Amazon Hub Apartment Locker is the package locker Amazon sells to residential property managers. The product page now calls it Amazon Apartment Locker. It takes deliveries from all carriers and retailers, not only Amazon, sends residents a notification when a package lands, and gives them 24/7 pickup. The locker is modular, installs indoors or outdoors, and serves only the property’s own residents. The resident flow is four steps: order to the apartment address, get the notification, follow the directions at the locker, open the door. In the package management guide it is the option sold by the retailer that ships many of the boxes, and the facts panel below is rendered from our vendor database with a source and verification date on each entry.

Who it fits

The database tags institutional multifamily and student housing, and the three case studies on the product page match. Katz Properties, a property manager, says it saves more than 30 hours a month while securing more than 2,000 deliveries monthly. GSA, a global student housing operator, says it saves $2,400 to $3,600 per property by eliminating recurring locker fees. Westdale says it gets 24/7 access at half the cost of competing solutions. Those are Amazon’s case studies, so read them as claims, but they tell you the pitch: a cheaper locker with no ongoing locker fee.

The modular sizing is meant to cover small properties and large ones alike. It is a weaker fit where residents need refrigerated storage, which the page does not mention, or where daily volume is high enough that a staffed or automated package room is on the table. Ask Amazon to size the locker against your actual weekly package count before you compare it with a room.

Pricing

Pricing is not published. The page describes the locker as all-inclusive and competitively priced, says flexible payment plan options are available, and asks for a quote. The GSA case study’s line about eliminating recurring locker fees suggests the model differs from subscription lockers, but the page does not say there is no ongoing fee, so ask.

Ask for the purchase price for a locker sized to your unit count, and what all-inclusive covers: hardware, installation, software, support, repairs. Ask what the payment plan options are, outright purchase, financing, or a lease. Ask whether there is any monthly or annual software charge, now or after a set term. Ask who pays for the electrical and network work for an outdoor install. Ask what a resident pays, which should be nothing, and confirm it in writing.

Integrations

The record names no PMS, and the product page names none. That matters for move-ins and move-outs. Ask how residents are added and removed: synced from your PMS, uploaded by file, or entered by hand. Ask what happens to a package addressed to a resident who moved out last week. Ask whether the locker can notify by the resident’s preferred channel or only through Amazon’s system, and whether a resident needs an Amazon account to pick up a FedEx box.

Limitations and questions to ask

Ask about oversized packages. A locker has a largest door, and furniture boxes, bikes and pet food bags do not fit. Ask what the carrier does with them and where they end up.

Ask what happens when the locker is full during the holidays. Do carriers leave packages at the door, and who sees the overflow?

Ask about service. When a door jams or the screen fails, who comes out, how fast, and is it in the all-inclusive price?

Ask about data. Amazon sells the locker and runs the retail business. Ask what delivery and resident data the locker collects, who owns it, and whether it is used for anything beyond delivery. Get the answer in the contract.

Alternatives

The package management vendor list compares each vendor with the same facts. Luxer One sells smart lockers, package rooms and refrigerated units under ASSA ABLOY ownership. Parcel Pending by Quadient covers indoor, outdoor, refrigerated and oversize lockers with five named PMS integrations. HelloPackage automates a package room instead of a locker. The comparison of Luxer One’s competitors puts the rest side by side.
