HelloPackage turns an existing room into an automated package room. Couriers check in at the door, and only a driver with a delivery gets in. Each package is logged as it arrives, the resident gets a notification by email, text or app, and residents pick up around the clock with a code. Staff do not have to be in the room. The company behind it is Package Solutions Inc., based in Atlanta, which says it has been BBB A+ rated since 2020, holds one U.S. patent and offers live support around the clock. Its homepage counts more than 200 communities and 70,000 residents. In the package management guide it is the room-based alternative to a wall of lockers, and the facts panel below is rendered from our vendor database with a source and verification date on each entry.
Who it fits
The database tags institutional multifamily, student housing, HOA communities and commercial facilities, and the homepage names student housing, multifamily, commercial, HOA and REIT portfolios. The buyer is a property with a room it can give up, a storage room, a former business center, a corner of the mailroom, and a package volume that has outgrown the office.
It fits less well where there is no room to spare and the only space is a hallway wall, which is where a locker bank goes. Ask how packages are stored inside the room, open shelving, lockers or both, because that decides how much of the security question below applies to you.
Pricing
HelloPackage publishes a starting point. The homepage says CapEx starts under $15K, with financing available and a money-back guarantee if it does not work out. That makes it a capital purchase at the low end, with the details on a quote.
Ask what the under-$15K figure includes: the door access hardware, the check-in device, any cameras, storage fixtures, installation and the software. Ask whether there is a monthly software or support fee after installation, since the homepage does not say. Ask what the financing terms are. Ask exactly how the money-back guarantee works: the time window, the conditions, and whether installation costs come back too. Ask whether residents are ever charged.
Integrations
The record names no PMS, and the product pages describe a property dashboard and connected technology without naming partners. Ask how residents get loaded: a PMS sync, a file, or by hand. The FAQ says the system removes a resident automatically 14 days after the lease ends. On access control, the FAQ says the room door is controlled by HelloPackage, preferably with a maglock, that building fobs are bypassed on the package room itself, and that the system works in parallel with gates and entry systems such as ButterflyMX or Latch. Ask what that means for your door hardware. Ask who the property calls when the door does not open, HelloPackage or the access control vendor.
Limitations and questions to ask
Security is the first question for any shared room. Ask how the system stops a resident from taking a neighbor’s package once inside. The FAQ says the cameras do not tie into a community surveillance system but the room can be viewed online. Ask what cameras record, how long footage is kept, and who reviews it when a package goes missing. Ask how claims for a missing package are handled and who pays.
Ask about couriers. Every carrier driver, including gig drivers, has to use the check-in. Ask what happens when a driver will not or cannot, and where the package ends up.
Ask about cold storage. The FAQ says HelloPackage does not supply refrigerated units; the driver can tag a package to a separate cooler at check-in, but the cooler is another vendor’s product.
Ask about capacity. Ask how the room is sized against your weekly package count and what happens at the holidays when it fills.
Ask about the third-party study. The homepage says PropTech IQ independently confirmed faster lease-up, lower make-ready costs and retention gains. Ask for the study itself.
Alternatives
The package management vendor list compares each vendor with the same facts. Luxer One sells both smart lockers and automated package rooms. Postal Solutions staffs the package room with people instead of automating it. Parcel Pending by Quadient offers lockers and package rooms with five named PMS integrations. For the remaining options, see how Luxer One’s alternatives compare.
