ProdataKey, shortened to PDK, makes cloud-based access control for doors, gates and amenity spaces, managed from a browser or phone. Its multifamily page pitches controlled access to private and shared spaces, audit logs and mobile management, with three pieces of hardware called out: PDK mobile credentials over Bluetooth, Red wireless locksets, and the Red Max enclosure, which controls up to 24 doors and which PDK calls the hardware option for multifamily housing. In the multifamily access control guide it belongs with the cloud access platforms that came from commercial buildings, and the facts panel below is rendered from our vendor database with a source and verification date on each entry.
Who it fits
The database tags commercial facilities. PDK’s industry list runs to seventeen sectors, from education and government to self-storage, coworking, retail and multifamily residential, so apartments are one market among many. A mixed-use owner with offices, retail and apartments in one portfolio can run all of them on one access system, and a dealer who already installs PDK in commercial buildings can bring it to a residential project.
The multifamily fit is clearest for an operator on Entrata, where PDK has a documented integration, and for properties in the RealPage Smart Building ecosystem, which PDK joined in September 2026 through an integration with STRATIS. It is less obvious for a small owner who wants to buy direct and set it up alone, because PDK sells through distributors and dealers.
Pricing
Pricing is not published. PDK’s multifamily page tells buyers to contact their preferred distributor, so the price comes from the dealer, not from PDK. Ask for the quote in three parts: hardware per door by type (controller, reader, wireless lockset), installation, and the recurring cloud fee. Ask how that fee is counted, per door, per site or per user, and whether mobile credentials carry a per-resident charge. Ask whether the dealer adds a monthly service fee on top of PDK’s, and what the contract term is with each of them.
Integrations
The database records one PMS integration, Entrata. PDK says resident data, access permissions and move-in and move-out information sync between the two systems, and a new resident who completes Entrata’s online leasing process gets an access credential issued in the ResidentPortal app. PDK also says teams can view activity logs and remotely unlock common area doors from Entrata’s platform.
Outside Entrata, PDK’s integrations page lists other residential partners (Della, SymLiv, Aigentless, Ambient, Flamingo), video intercom partners including Aiphone and DoorVi, camera platforms such as Digital Watchdog and Hanwha Wisenet WAVE, plus Control4, Resideo and Zapier. The STRATIS integration announced in September 2026 connects PDK to RealPage’s smart building operating system. That is not the same as a connection to RealPage’s property management software, so ask which RealPage product your data flows through and whether leases drive credentials directly. Yardi, AppFolio, ResMan and MRI do not appear on PDK’s integrations page; ask whether any of them is supported before you assume it.
Limitations and questions to ask
Ask who supports the system day to day, PDK or the dealer, and who you call at 2 a.m. when the garage gate will not open. Ask what happens when the internet drops: which doors keep working, how long credentials stay valid offline, and whether the Red wireless locks fall back to a keypad or a key. Ask about batteries in the wireless locksets: expected life, how low-battery alerts reach staff, and who replaces them. Ask how a resident without a smartphone gets in; Washington’s ESSB 5937 requires a non-app key on request from January 2027. On the Entrata link, ask how fast a move-out revokes access and whether vendor and self-guided tour access come from the same sync.
Alternatives
The multifamily access control vendor list lays out every vendor in the category with the same facts. Brivo is the cloud access platform with a Multifamily Edition and four PMS integrations. Verkada bundles cameras, access and intercoms in one console for owners who want video and doors from one company. Avigilon Alta is another commercial-first cloud reader platform, reaching multifamily through partners. Our ButterflyMX alternatives page compares the rest of the field.
