RealPage Insurance Solutions is the resident insurance program built into the RealPage stack. The record describes four pieces: eRenterPlan resident policies, RealCoverage for certificate and cancellation tracking, an AssetProtect master policy, and Policy Validator, which has residents upload third-party proof for automated validation. Its aliases in the database include RenterProtection and DepositIQ. For a RealPage operator it is the default answer in the renters insurance programs category, and the question is whether any specialist beats it.
Who it fits
The record tags institutional multifamily and single-family rental owners, and RealPage’s own page claims 4 million rental units. The buyer is an operator already on RealPage Online Leasing, LOFT or On-Site who wants compliance status on the same screen as the lease, which is what RealPage means when it calls itself the only solution that shows compliance data from a single familiar platform. RealPage’s page also says mandating renters insurance with the program can increase compliance by as much as 41 percent, which is RealPage’s figure and the one to ask it to back up with your own portfolio’s baseline.
It fits less well for a manager on any other PMS. Nothing in the record suggests the program runs outside RealPage, so a Yardi operator is looking at ResidentShield and a Rent Manager or AppFolio manager at an independent layer.
Pricing
Pricing is not published in the record. Ask for the resident premium on eRenterPlan, the per-unit cost of AssetProtect, the resident charge that funds it, the manager’s share, the deductible per occurrence, and whether RealCoverage and Policy Validator are priced separately or bundled with the leasing product you already pay for. RealPage’s page describes AssetProtect as a way to create revenue streams, so ask it to show the revenue math at your unit count rather than in a slide.
Integrations
The record lists one integration, RealPage itself, covering Online Leasing, LOFT (formerly ActiveBuilding) and On-Site. That is the point of the product. The RealPage integrations page lists every other category that connects to the platform, useful if the insurance decision is one of several on the same renewal.
Limitations and questions to ask
The first question is what AssetProtect covers. RealPage describes it as covering up to 100 percent of occupied units under one master policy, which is a policy the owner holds for damage residents cause. Ask for the declarations page and read the liability limit per occurrence, the deductible, and whether there is any contents coverage for the resident at all. Then ask what the lease and the resident’s statement call the charge, since a liability-only policy labeled as renters insurance is the labeling dispute that reaches courts in other vendors’ programs.
The second is the boundary between eRenterPlan and AssetProtect. A resident who buys an eRenterPlan policy is insured in their own name; a resident who is auto-enrolled into AssetProtect is not. Ask how the resident is told which one they are in and how quickly the master-policy charge stops when they upload their own proof.
The third is validation. Ask what Policy Validator checks on an uploaded policy, how it handles a policy that names the wrong address or a co-tenant, and what happens on the day a third-party policy cancels. Then ask which states the program runs in and who the licensed producer is, and get the answer for your states in writing.
Alternatives
There is no alternatives page for this category yet; the renters insurance vendors list has all eight vendors in one table. The closest like-for-like is ResidentShield, Yardi’s native program, for an operator weighing PMS platforms. An owner who wants only the liability protection without the resident-facing policy should look at Renters Legal Liability, which sells the master-policy program on its own.
AI visibility
