Jetty vs Rhino: Two Deposit Products From One Company
Short answer
- One company, two products. Rhino and Jetty merged in February 2025. Rhino's products now sell as Greenlight Rent, and jetty.com still sells Jetty Deposit.
- A bond or a policy. Jetty Deposit is a surety bond on State National paper. Greenlight Deposit is insurance placed by Rhino's agency with carriers it does not name.
- The resident repays either way. Both companies collect what they pay on a claim from the resident, so neither one ends the resident's liability.
- Ask which product you would get. Neither site says which product a new partner enrolls in, and neither names a PMS integration.

Jetty vs Rhino used to be a choice between two competitors. Since their February 2025 merger, it is a choice between two deposit products sold by one company. Rhino now sells as Greenlight Rent, and Jetty still sells Jetty Deposit under its own name.
This page compares the two products on what each vendor’s own pages say: the instrument, who pays, what the resident still owes, and what neither one tells you.
Are Jetty and Rhino still separate companies?
No. They announced the merger in February 2025, and Greenlight Rent’s About page now calls them “one company with one name”. That page cites 3 million rental units and 47 of the top 100 owners and operators. The old sayrhino.com address forwards to greenlightrent.com.
Jetty’s storefront has not folded in. jetty.com still sells Jetty Deposit, with a banner saying Jetty has joined forces with Rhino and serves over 6 million units. The two sites give different unit counts, so ask for the current one.
So the real choice is between two products. Neither site says which product a new partner is enrolled in, and both partner help centers blocked our research. Get the answer from the sales team in writing.
How does Jetty Deposit work?
Jetty Deposit replaces the cash deposit with a surety bond. Jetty’s page names the paper: State National Insurance Company, and National Specialty Insurance Company in Florida. The resident pays monthly or once, priced by the amount of protection and the applicant’s credit score.
Jetty publishes a starting price: $1,000 of protection from $7 a month. When a resident leaves damage or unpaid rent, you file a claim up to the bond amount. Jetty then collects what it paid directly from the resident.
Two other terms on the same page matter to an owner. Jetty says its coverage has no category limits on lost rent or damage, and the bond stays in place for the whole tenancy, with no new bond at renewal.
How does Greenlight Deposit work?
Greenlight Deposit is the product Rhino sold before the rename, and Greenlight describes it as insurance. Rhino New York LLC, doing business as Greenlight Rent, places it as a general agent for several carriers. In 13 states those carriers are rated A- or better; elsewhere the policy may be written by an excess and surplus lines carrier, and the site names none.
It is not sold in Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota or Wyoming. The renter pays a premium, monthly or once, priced per renter. Greenlight says the partner property pays nothing, because its revenue comes from commissions on what renters buy.
If there is a loss, the renter must reimburse Greenlight for the approved claim. Greenlight advertises a four-day claims process. It also lets a landlord pick a coverage limit higher than the cash deposit it replaces.
Who pays, and what does the resident still owe?
The resident pays for both products, and the resident still owes for damage under both. With a cash deposit, the money is already in your hands at move-out. With either product, the company pays you and then collects from the resident.
The paper behind the payment differs. A surety bond guarantees the resident’s obligation, so the surety pays you and then pursues the resident. Greenlight’s insurance works the same way for the resident, but its carrier and that carrier’s rating depend on the state.
For an owner, the useful questions are which company is named on the document and whether it is admitted in your state. Those answers are on the document itself, so ask for a sample before you sign.
Which PMS do they work with?
Neither one names a system on its current pages. Jetty says its products integrate with all the major property management systems. Greenlight says it integrates directly into your PMS through a free leasing integration.
Older Rhino posts on greenlightrent.com named Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, Rent Manager and MRI, but they date from 2021. Our record leaves Rhino’s list empty until a current page names systems, so the table above shows none for either vendor.
On AppFolio, Buildium or Rentvine, make the vendor show you enrollment and a claim posting to the resident ledger in your own system. The AppFolio integrations page lists the deposit vendors that do name it.
What should you ask in the demo?
- Which product would our properties enroll in, Jetty Deposit or Greenlight Deposit, and would that change at renewal?
- Which surety or carrier is named on the resident’s document, and is it admitted in our states?
- What does the resident sign, and how do you collect from them after a claim?
- How long does a claim take to pay, and what coverage limit can we set per unit?
- Can you show the integration in our PMS, from enrollment to a move-out claim?
- What happens to residents already enrolled in the other product?
Which fits you?
Jetty Deposit fits a manager who wants a surety bond with a named carrier and a published starting price. Its pages answer those questions today. Greenlight fits a manager who wants the brand the company now sells under, a stated four-day claims process, and a coverage limit above the deposit.
Either way you are buying from one company. Get both quotes from the same sales team, then compare the two resident documents line by line.
Other vendors in the category work differently. Obligo against Rhino compares a payment method on file with deposit insurance, and Rhino against LeaseLock compares two kinds of insurance. The Rhino alternatives page groups the rest of the category, and the Jetty alternatives page covers Jetty’s renters insurance.
