Zentra: Features, Pricing, Integrations & AI Visibility

Zentra is Allegion’s multifamily access software, the platform layer on top of Schlage locks, with resident keys in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Allegion launched it in 2023 and bought Gatewise in July 2025, and the research notes describe the combination of Schlage, Zentra, and Gatewise as the hardware incumbent becoming a platform. It is the vendor in our multifamily access control guide that an operator already standardized on Schlage should read first. The facts panel below is rendered from our vendor database with a source URL and verification date on each entry.

Who it fits and who it does not

Zentra lists institutional multifamily only. The buyer is an operator with Schlage Control, XE360, or NDE locks on the doors already, or one specifying a new build, who wants the software to come from the lock maker rather than a third platform. The research notes put it at all multifamily, and the wallet keys are the pitch. The institutional multifamily page is written for that buyer.

It does not list small multifamily, single-family rental, student housing, or commercial facilities. An owner of a six-unit with a mix of locks is a RemoteLock conversation. A lobby intercom is a separate product and a separate vendor. And an operator on the fence between lock makers has no reason to pick the software first.

Pricing

Pricing is not published. Ask for the per-unit software figure, the per-door lock figure by model, and the minimum. Ask whether the wallet credential carries a per-resident fee. Ask whether the contract is month-to-month or annual and whether the software licence survives if you change platforms but keep the locks.

Integrations

The database records no PMS integrations for Zentra; the research notes mark the list as not published and unverified. Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, AppFolio, Rent Manager, ResMan, Buildium, and MRI are all open questions. Gatewise, in the same company, publishes a five-platform list, so ask whether Zentra shares that connection or has its own, and get the answer in writing with a community reference at your PMS. Ask what syncs, in which direction, and whether it is real time or scheduled. Ask whether the wallet key is issued and revoked from the lease dates or by hand.

The research notes also record Verkada, a cloud video and access platform, integrating with Schlage Control locks. That is a different software layer on the same hardware, so ask Allegion what happens to Zentra if a security team later wants the locks under Verkada.

Limitations and questions to ask

Ask what a resident without a smartphone uses. Wallet keys live on a phone, and Washington’s ESSB 5937 requires a non-app key on request from January 2027; New York has already seen litigation after a landlord blocked a key cylinder. Ask whether the Schlage locks on the quote keep a physical cylinder and what a fob or card costs.

Ask how the locks connect and about batteries, the top operational complaint in the category. Ask what still works during an outage, since the whole point of a lock-maker platform is that the door works when the software does not. Ask who owns setup and support, Allegion, a Schlage dealer, or an integrator.

Ask about the roadmap plainly. Allegion announced expanded wallet-based access for Zentra and Gatewise at OPTECH 2025; ask what shipped, what is still announced, and what the gate and the unit door share today.

Alternatives

Gatewise is the gate and amenity half of the same company. DOOR is the proprietary lock-plus-software alternative, and the DOOR alternatives page places Zentra among the full category.
